The Fern Creek UMC Quilters are a group of ladies with diverse creative talents. We welcome all who have a desire to learn this ancient art form, regardless of skill level.

Our Prayer Shawl Ministry combines compassion for others and the love of crocheting/knitting into a prayerful outreach ministry for Fern Creek United Methodist Church to those in our community who need the comfort of God’s love and healing.  Many stitches and prayers are incorporated into each shawl.  Once completed, a copy of the prayer is attached and they are blessed by our congregation during Sunday morning services every few months.  We welcome donations of yarn or monies to addict in the advancement of this ministry.

Our quilting ministry mission is to create prayer and baby quilts that are presented to members of our congregation.  We donate our time and expertise to creating quilts and care blankets for Project Linus and join with our Prayer Shawl Ministry sisters for the Hosparus Care Blanket Project.

Project Linus provides love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gift of a new, handmade blanket or afghan, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”

Hosparus cares for patients at the end of life.  Anything that can provide comfort for their patients is welcomed.  For many, that feeling comes from blankets that are made by loving hands and donated to Hosparus.  Wen a blanket is given to a patin, it is a fist to their family s well, something that they can keep after the patient is no longer with them physically.  The blankets not only provide comfort and warmth, but also special memories.

**To request a prayer shawl, please contact the church office.  This is a ministry for all who can benefit from the power of prayer.  All we ask is that you give us the name of the recipient so that we can continue to pray for them.**
